Production Transparency

Our value chains are transparent and ethical, and we provide fair wages to all the stakeholders who are involved in the process.

Most of our materials are locally sourced.

Kala Cotton & Indigenous Wool for textiles, Wood and Desi Leather for hard material craft products are all sourced from Kachchh, Gujarat, India. The scrap metal for bells and waste plastic for upcycled plastic weaving are also sourced locally. TC Leather, silk and Indigo are sourced from South India. At times, we also source TC leather from Gujarat. All other natural dyes are sourced locally.

Yes, they're absolutely food-safe. As our lacquer-turned-wood products are handmade, they like the touch of a hand when they’re cleaned too. We'd recommend keeping them away from dishwashers. We suggest using mild detergents or soaps because just like you, your products deserve some kindness too.

The leather products may catch mold on wet monsoon days. But you need to wipe them dry and store them properly after every use. If you give it some sunshine, even better. We recommend that you follow all care instructions given with the product/s.

From the raw materials to the finished products, we create everything in Kachchh. Our craft value chains are indigenous, sustainable and ecologically sound. We believe in a regenerative and circular economy.

Yes, we do not know any other way of producing products except with our hands. The artisans associated with us only know the language of crafts which has been passed onto them through their forefathers and continued in the family for at least 7 generations.

We keep updating our site and adding new products every now and then. Besides, you could also check out our social media handles on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and subscribe to our newsletters.

Kala Cotton of Kachchh is the original pure Old World cotton of India. Khamir's Kala Cotton Initiative encourages sustainable cotton textile production in harmony with the local ecology. This crop is organic, rain-fed, has a high tolerance for both disease and pests, and requires minimal investment. It is both resilient and resurgent in the face of stressful land conditions, which in turn helps it form a strong, coarse, stretchable fibre that is often used in denim. Bt cotton, on the other hand, is a genetically modified organism (GMO) or genetically modified pest-resistant plant cotton variety, which produces an insecticide to combat bollworm. It disrupts the natural process of gene flow. The pests become resistant to the toxins produced by these crops resulting in a decline of crop production.
