A few decades ago wool or warm clothes were made locally with the wool of local sheep and goats. But since we are buying imported or artificial wool, the demand for Desi wool has decreased; so the pastoralists are suffering from these crises.
In 2016, we took up the challenge of reviving desi wool by inviting designers to create collections using local wool. We are working towards reviving the entire chain from sourcing the wool to spinning the yarn and making cloth and clothing using desi wool for urban markets.
Now pastoralists are becoming independent and financially better, women are willing to spin and weavers willing to weave. Thus it is creating a good economy for the local market.
